You people
Am people
We all people.
You Fante
am Asante
You Kusasi
am Mamprusi
You Ewe
am Dagomba
You Akan
we people of this Oman
You singer
am poet
We could do a duet,
something like Samini
and Maya Angelou
We people
so maybe a "colabo"
You tower
am dwarf
You cool
and me too.
So don't you slam
the door on me
Or eject my things
through the window
Hold me in your eyes
with desire
And don't let hate
kill your libido
Press your body's
easy weight on me
So I can feel your breath
on my breast
Squeeze me tight, don't let
your honey-hands go to rest
Lest we be separated
by people, who ain't people
cause we people.

Love this poem. It reminds me of rhetoric of Gwendolyn Brook's "We Real Cool" (http://www.poets.org/poet.php/prmPID/165) but as a love poem.
This is a triumph of the written word, Reggie! I love your parallelism between national unity and the act of romance. It shows your potential as a great poet so don't stop whatever you are doing, because it is working! Broaden your horizons as a poet in perpetual learning and you will be surprised at what you can create with simple words. Ayekoo!
That's a good point, Laban. I was planning on pointing out "We Real Cool" to Reggie myself, but it slipped my mind. Thanks for bringing that up.
yeah!i've read "we real cool".it's got music to it.i love it.thanks for the comments, teachers.
Reggie, in my earlier remark, i compared you to the US poet, Giovanni, but bear in mind that you are yourself and brilliant. Keep it up, my local boy [i mean you dont live far from me in Kumasi].
Poetry at its best. While reading, I fell into a trance. A kind of feeling gripped me - indeed I fell in love. 'People' is unique, however it gives me a similar taste of a typical Nikki Giovanni verse. Keep it up Mr Poet.
