Contests, Grants and Fellowships

Here is a list of contests, grants and fellowships that cater to African poets and writers. The ones listed here do not take entry fees. Send your best work and keep your fingers crossed. This list will constantly be updated with new opportunities to let the world read and appreciate your poetry.

Residency for Poets and Writers in Seoul, South Korea
Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture offers residencies of up to three months year-round for poets and fiction writers at the Seoul Art Space_Yeonhui in Seoul, Korea. The urban-pastoral space, located on the former grounds of the City History Compilation Committee of Seoul, accommodates up to 17 domestic writers and 3 international writers at a time. International residents are provided with free private lodging and have access to a kitchen, common spaces, a yard, and walking trails. Residents will be expected to complete a one-page essay about Seoul or the residency experience. For international applicants, submit via e-mail a cover letter, project statement, passport copy, and at least two recommendations from a publisher or literary organization. There is no application fee. Admissions are made on a rolling basis. Call or e-mail for the required application form and complete guidelines.
